The one book that with their grounded passages from Marcus Aurelius, helped and somehow teached me a bit how to live a little better in many ways. One thing that it's important and I rarely read talk about, it's to get the right version of the book, as far I know there are the ones with more literal translations, and the those with more easier to understand translations; keep in mind that most if not all translations of this book are from ancient Greek after all. In my case, my friend sent me "Meditations, a new translation", which it's less of a literal translation but more of a "balanced one" translation (the author goes deep into this, he tried to find the right words while still making sense in English), and for me, it made the difference between not being able to read the book, and becoming now my favorite one.
2. The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy
This book it's so good, so entertaining, so marvelous, so unique, that in the past I believed there was a conspirancy to keep this one gatekeeped or something. In fact, I still do... OR, maybe people see how many novels are the complete series and get scared of committing too much time to it? Myself, I never got so engrossed in a book like this -the modern equivalent may be a videogame you don't want to stop playing, and you have in a small fragment of your memory reminding you "ok you have been readoing for one hour, you should finish soon" but the bookkeeps getting entertaining to the point of making you smile and in rare occasions even laugh, so naturally you keep reading. That's how awesome and *unique* is this book to me. The history split between nonsensensical smart jokes that somehow makes sense, and the other half on the story one of the best protagonist of any history that I can remember, Arthur Dent, who experiences everything in his journey with his trusty friend, Ford Prefect -what prefect name. If I would get stranded on an island for a month, this is series I would want, without doubt. A shame we couldn't get what probably was the last volume because the genius of Adam Douglas passed away... but maybe we did get a side novel even better? I'll let you to discover that.
